Trilogy Of ‘Wanted’ Movies On Way - Touted As Next Bourne Series

Wanted is doing brilliantly at the box-office, with high ticket sales despite tough competition from two animated smash hits in Wall-E and Kung Fu Panda, as well as Hancock and Get Smart. And what does a successful film usually mean? Yes, that’s right, a sequel… or two.

According to Cinema Blend, who heard it from one of those notoriously difficult to believe sources, Wanted is set to become a trilogy, with two sequels already being planned out. The franchise is being touted as the next Bourne series, and certainly, the sense of excitement and high-octane thrills does offer some parallels.

James McAvoy and Terrence Stamp are thought to already be definitely up for the sequels, and what’s more, Angelina Jolie could also make an appearance thanks to the use of flashbacks. These could explore Jolie’s character’s back story, and explain how she came to meet and be trained by her mentor, the person set to become the villain in the sequels.

Any sequels would also have more of an international flavour, with McAvoy’s character set to fight Fraternity cells all over the world. This is another parallel with the Jason Bourne films, with Bourne taking us around the world as he fought to clear his name.

Wanted is one of those films that seemed to sneak up on everyone, and without fanfare, or much publicity, rocked our socks. You can almost guarantee one sequel, and these details seem to be too well thought out and believable to be pure conjecture.
