There are literally hundreds of comic superheroes in this world, each with their own powers, origins, and back stories. They’ve also all got their own sets of fans, some of whom take the idea of fandom to the nth degree, collecting anything and everything to do with their hero of choice.
However, not all comic superheroes are created equal. Some have literally broken out of the comic book niche and entered the mainstream where everyone knows their name and what they’re all about. But which are the greatest of all time?
SFX.co.uk recently compiled its list of the Top 50 comic superheroes of all time. The Top 10 is listed below, made up of names familiar to most of us. With the possible exception of Captain Britain, who makes an appearance at number 7 and proves this is a poll held on a British-based Web site.
Top 10 Comic Superheroes
10. The Hulk
9. Daredevil
8. Deadpool
7. Captain Britain
6. The Green Lantern
5. Iron Man
4. Wolverine
3. Superman
2. Spider-Man
1. Batman
I agree with the majority of the Top 10, which is rare for me. I’m not too sure about Deadpool at number 8 or Captain Britain at number 7. And my Top 3 would be Batman, Spider-Man, and Superman in that order. But that’s just me.
The main argument would seem to be as to whether Iron Man and Batman even belong on this list seeing as neither actually have superpowers and instead rely on technology and gadgets to fight the good fight. Regardless, they’re still heroes, and very popular ones at that.
