Variety reports that Tom Hanks will star in an adaptation of Dave Eggers’s novel “Hologram for the King.” Tom Twyker will direct.
Here’s how Amazon describes the book:
In a rising Saudi Arabian city, far from weary, recession-scarred America, a struggling businessman named Alan Clay pursues a last-ditch attempt to stave off foreclosure, pay his daughter’s college tuition, and finally do something great. In A Hologram for the King, Dave Eggers takes us around the world to show how one man fights to hold himself and his splintering family together.
Twyker and Hanks worked together on “Cloud Atlas.” Well, good for them for saying, “No hard feelings, let’s give it another try.”
Hanks has been busy on Broadway starring in the play “Lucky Guy.” He will be seen later this year on screen in “Captain Phillips” and “Saving Mr. Banks.”
