Tom Cruise To Play Ageing Lothario Hugh Hefner In ‘Playboy’ Biopic?
Yesterday, we learned that Hugh Hefner was donating $2 million to the USC, and now we learn that Tom Cruise may be being lined up to play the 81 year old in a movie biopic. It seems the press can’t get enough of the porn magazine empire boss!
The movie depicting the life and times of Hefner was announced way back in June. The film, due to be called simply Playboy is set to be directed by Brett Ratner, he of Rush Hour and X Men 3: The Last Stand fame.
The film is the brainchild of Brian Grazer, who won the best picture Oscar in 2002 for A Beautiful Mind. He will produce the new movie after Hefner sold him the rights a few years ago.
Now reports are suggesting, they could have found their leading man, with Tom Cruise rumoured to be the favourite for the role.
A source revealed:
“Tom knows of Hugh’s colourful past and thinks he would be the perfect person to bring it to the big screen.”
“He also thinks the role would be a challenge for him, and would remind people of his versatility as an actor. At the moment people are concentrating on his personal life, and his marriage to Katie - but he wants to remind them that he can act too.”
We know you can act Tom, we just wish you’d keep your personal life a bit more personal sometimes. And as for the Scientology garbage, just shut up already.
This is only speculation at present, with Cruise’ representatives refusing to confirm or deny the rumours, but I think it’s a good fit, and can certainly see him in the role of a ageing lothario who loves female attention, yeah, bring it on!
