Hopefully the next Mission: Impossible movie will have a less clunky title.
“Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” was a big year end hit for Tom Cruise in 2011, grossing about $700 million worldwide. It actually was the highest earning movie of his career, which, considering how many big movies he’s made, is pretty impressive. So do you think that means there will be a sequel? Just kidding! Of course it does! (By the way, if you answered no to that question, you need to sit down and study your Hollywood 101.)
Cruise talked to Total Film magazine about plans for a fifth “Mission: Impossible” movie:
“Seeing an audience respond… to have that experience is really wonderful.
“I started Mission: Impossible hoping I could make many of them. It’s a character that I can grow with. At that time it was the most expensive film in the history of Paramount Pictures, and the first film I was producing.
“It’s been pretty exciting. I’ll make a bunch of those. I’ll make as many as people want to see… because they’re very challenging, and so much fun to make.”
Any thoughts on what it might be like?
“We’re already working on different images. Talking conceptually. I love travelling around promoting different movies because I’m always looking at different places, and I always walk around to see the city. I look at architecture, subways… coming up with different sequences.”
So keep an eye on where Tom Cruise has a big premiere for his next movie–that could be the location for “Mission: Impossible 5!”
Oh, and that next movie will be “Jack Reacher,” opening on December 21st.
