Tom Cruise’s personality is 6’5″, 250 pounds.
Deadline reports that Tom Cruise is in talks to star as Jack Reacher in an adaptation of Lee Child’s novel “One Shot.” Christopher McQuarrie would adapt and direct.
Deadline notes that Cruise bears little resemblance to Reacher, who Child describes as “6’5″ and 250 pounds.” In other words, he could pick Cruise up and carry him around the way a Parisian carries a baguette fresh from the bakery. However, Child is on board with the idea of Cruise playing the role, saying, “Reacher’s size in the books is a metaphor for an unstoppable force, which Cruise portrays in his own way.” In other words, Cruise is big enough because he’s a movie star!
Cruise has been interested in the character for a while, optioning the book over five years ago, but no real progress has been made until now. In “One Shot,” Reacher “investigates a case in which a lone sniper murders five victims before being captured. Reacher discovers it’s more than a simple open and shut case.”
Life, indeed, is complicated, Mr. Reacher.
McQuarrie hasn’t directed a movie since his debut in 2000 with “The Way of the Gun.” He has, however, worked with Cruise before, writing the script for “Valkyrie,” and doing some polishing on “Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol.” The idea is to shoot this before Cruise films “Oblivion” for Joseph Kosinski, so this needs to come together fast. They’re planning to shoot “One Shot” in Pittsburgh.
