Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Daughter Suri To Play Knut The Polar Bear?

Despite being just 18 months old, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes daughter Suri has been offered her first starring movie role. Yes, I know it sounds stupid, but because it’s not April fools day, and judging by the fact that some quite esteemed publications have run the story, I have to assume it’s true.

You may or may not have heard of Knut, the young polar bear at Berlin Zoo, but enough people have fallen in love with the bear that a movie is now in the planning stages.

Producer Ash R Shah, with his firm The Animation Picture Company is behind the proposed movie version of the story of Knut, and thinks Suri Cruise would be the perfect person to voice the character in the English version of the animated film.

He said:

“I see the heartwarming relationship between Knut and his caretaker, Thomas Doerflein, at the centre of the movie… Suri (Cruise) could speak the English voice of Knut.”

The curator of the Berlin Zoo has been offered US$5 million for the movie rights to the heartwarming story, which has already been turned into a children’s book called Knut: How One Little Polar Bear Captivated the World.

So what is Suri’s connection to all this? Well, Katie Holmes took her to the zoo while Tom Cruise was in Berlin filming, so obviously the next logical step is for her to play the part…
