Thom Yorke Tunes for Terminator Salvation?

Radiohead’s Thom Yorke knows the score.
The MTV Movie Blog reports that director McG may have Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke write some music for the already highly-anticipated “Terminator Salvation.”
(Note to Mr. Yorke: Stay out of Christian Bale’s sightlines if he comes by the studio to loop some dialogue.)
Apparently McG had originally planned to have Yorke and Gustavo Santaolallo (an Oscar winner for his “Babel” score) do the entire score. Instead, though, Danny Elfman is doing the score for “Terminator Salvation,” but Yorke and Santaolallo might be brought in to do some additional pieces of music.
While it would be quite the cool thing to have the critically beloved darling of the alt rock scene Yorke do the score, it’s not like you can go wrong with Danny Elfman. I know “The Dark Knight” won a Grammy for its score, but seriously, I can’t remember a single note of the forgettable Hans Zimmer/James Newton Howard music. Yet the “Batman” theme Elfman did by the 1989 movie is immediately recognizable. I liked his work on the Spider-Man movies too, and hey, he did the Simpsons theme! So he’s a fine choice. If Yorke and Santaolallo can add something that will be fine.
This wouldn’t be the first time on the movie score carousel for Yorke; he collaborated with Bjork on a song for 2002’s “Dancer in the Dark.” It also wouldn’t be the first time for a member of Radiohead–as you no doubt recall, guitarist Jonny Greenwood did the score for last year’s “There Will Be Blood” (I liked the music by itself, but there was just too much of it. I swear, director Paul Thomas Anderson seemed scared of a moment of silence).
