There’s Thor: Chris Hemsworth?

Your Thor: Chris Hemsworth
Nikkie Finke is reporting on Deadline Hollywood Daily that Chris Hemsworth has landed the title role in Thor, the adaptation of the Marvel Comic. She believes (no doubt hopes) there will be a confirmation of this from Marvel on Monday. Kenneth Branagh is set to direct the film, which is set for a May 20, 2011 release.
You don’t know who Hemsworth is? Yes you do–didn’t you just see “Star Trek?” He plays George Kirk. Oh, see? Now you do know.
Finke extensively details Hemsworth’s skyrocket towards the top of the Hollywood superhero chain. In short, Hemsworth had been a success on Australian TV but couldn’t get the attention of the big agencies in Los Angeles. But the hustle of his manager got him a chance at Thor, and when he was turned down, another look that sealed the deal. Hemsworth also just got the lead (the Patrick Swayze role) in the remake of ’80s Cold War flick “Red Dawn.” Oh, and his brother, who’s been in town for even less time, has picked up the lead in the Miley Cyrus tearjerker Last Song. Mr. and Mrs. Hemsworth, I think it’s safe to say you won’t have to support your kids anymore.
Here, according to Finke, are some of the other actors who were considered for Thor: Daniel Craig (who turned it down), Kevin McKidd (of “Rome”), WWE star Triple H, Charlie Hunnam (currently on F/X’s “Sons of Anarchy,” Tom Hiddleston (probably best known in the US for his role in HBO’s “The Gathering Storm,” Alexander Skarsgaard (yes, of course Stellan’s son), Joel Kinnaman (Finke colorfully describes him as “some Swedish American dude,” which usually translates to “super goodlooking AND speaks English). Oh and Little Hemsworth Liam also supposedly took a crack at the part.
So anyway, it looks like you might want to hitch your star to the Hemsworth train right now, as it appears that they’ve got a lock on Hollywood.
