Matthew Modine has joined the super secret “Dark Knight” proceedings.
(We’ll get to that Joker thing in a minute, but no, it’s not the Joker you’d think (or hope for, depending on who you are).
Variety reports that Tom Conti, Joey King, and Matthew Modine have joined the cast of “The Dark Knight Rises.” Since it’s something to do with “The Dark Knight,” their roles are being kept double top secret. I hear casting director have been sent to Antarctica for giving the first initial of a character in a Christopher Nolan film.
Conti has been around foreve, it seems, acting in theater, movies, and British TV. His movies include “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence” and “Reuben Reuben,” for which he was nominated for an Oscar in 1984. He was in Julie Taymor’s version of “The Tempest” last year. Joey King was Ramona in last year’s “Ramona and Beezus.” Matthew Modine has most recently been seen at Knicks games. Oh, all right, he’s done more than that, and in fact will be seen in HBO’s upcoming movie “Too Big to Fail.” As alluded to in the title of this post, he is probably best-known for playing Private Joker in Stanley Kubrick’s “Full Metal Jacket.” So that’s the Joker–not that Joker.
“The Dark Knight Rises” just began filming the other day. The other cast members include Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman Nestor Carbonell, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence and Daniel Sunjata.
