Hey, look who's back in town.
You know, you could do worse for a sequel title than “The Avengers Return.” However, we’re really just talking about the return of the original, “The Avengers” to theaters. The blockbuster of the year will be back on the big screen this Labor Day weekend through next week, playing in 1705 theaters.
It makes perfect sense. Nothing really great is being released this weekend, so there’s little competition. Given the choice between the tiresome “Lawless” and a repeat viewing of “The Avengers,” I can imagine many people turning to the superhero flick. It’s a good gamble by Marvel–after all, the movie only made $1.49 billion worldwide and is the third highest earning movie ever. Watch out, “Titanic,” the Avengers are coming after that second place spot.
On its Facebookpage, Marvel is warning “Don’t forget to stay through the credits and enjoy your shawarma!” So have they added anything different than what was in the original release? Or different from the various extras we’ve seen over the last few weeks. Well, I guess the only way to find out is to see it again. Or wait until a few others see it and report back…
“The Avengers” stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, and Stellan Skarsgård. Joss Whedon wrote and directed it.
