Terminator 4: Fate Undetermined?

Wait, what? Excuse me, I think I have to go call my agent…
Rumor time! Rumor time! Just a rumor, but…I’ll pass it on anyway.
UGO’s Movie Blog has word–albeit rather shaky word–that Terminator 4 has been shut down. Apparently one of their sources heard a crew member discussing his sudden availability due to the production being called off. That’s certainly not much to go on, but it bears watching, I suppose.
This movie didn’t have the aura of trouble. I can’t imagine it’s a money issue, as I’m sure Warner Brothers would have pretty high hopes for this and would be willing to sink big bucks into it. A good cast had signed on–Christian Bale as John Connor, Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, Avatar’s Sam Worthington, and possibly Josh Brolin as the Terminator (which, considering that his next gig is playing the current president, somehow seems rather funny). The biggest roadblock was that they couldn’t start on the script until the strike ended. I think that’s the most likely problem–I don’t know about the production being shut down permanently, but could it be postponed temporarily because the script hasn’t been locked down? That makes a lot of sense to me. Another possibility is that they began to worry about a potential SAG strike and decided it would be better to hold off a start date until that issue is resolved.
Well, we’ll see if there’s any story here. T4 is (was?) scheduled to open on May 22, 2009.
