Tell George Lucas What You Think

Jar Jar Binks–a Lucas crime?
Do you love George Lucas’s films from 1977 to 1983, but hate pretty much everything he’s done since then? Then, my friend, get out your video camera and prepare to describe your beef with Mr. Lucas in detail. “The People vs. George Lucas,” a documentary-in-progress about fans love/hate relationship with the Lucas oeuvre, is soliciting fan videos that explain their complaints about Lucas, or any other material that they feel might illuminate fan issues with Lucas.
A New York Post article from Friday tells what the documentary’s director, Alexander Philippe, sees in the intense, often very personal, relationship “Star Wars” fans have with Lucas:
On one hand, they revere absolutely everything about “Star Wars” and the universe; on the other hand, they feel his latest movies (including “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”) have been utter crap. They also feel exploited by the endless amount of merchandise Lucasfilm releases, knowing “Star Wars” die-hards will have to purchase it all.
“‘Star Wars’ was originally about telling a great story. Now there’s a sense that it’s more about action figures and selling,” Philippe says.
Fans also take issue with Lucas’ decision to re-release multiple versions of the original trilogy, altering the films they adore and sucking more money out of their pockets.
So you have until Sept. 30th to submit your videos to the doc’s website, www.peoplevsgeorge.com. Make your voice heard.
