Tales from the Cryptozoo Crew

A big bug. Eh. Have you ever seen Food of the Gods?
Oh good, our comic book/graphic novel adaptation of the week is here early!
Variety reports that Alcon Entertainment has picked up the rights to Cryptozoo Crew, a graphic novel series by Jerry Carr and Allan Gross. They also bought the rights to Joe Gazzam’s adaptation of the series. Gazzam wrote Scared Straight, the upcoming prison movie (what did you expect with a title like Scared Straight? a finishing school movie?) starring Nicolas Cage.
Cryptozoo Crew is about, as Variety describes, “…a member of a secret organization charged with protecting the identity of strange and rare animals classified as Cryptids. He teams with a beautiful doctor to protect a one-of-a-kind species from falling into the wrong hands.”
Ahh yes. Wouldn’t want to team up with an average looking doctor.
No word yet on director or stars, or even who it’s aimed at. I’ll be honest, I see the words graphic novel and assume it’s adult. Then I looked at some of the artwork and it looks like it is for kids. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. But I guess I was expecting something scarier. You know, more realistic mutants and monsters. But I guess if it’s supposed to be a kids/Goonies type adventure, well, that’s fine.
