Star Trek’s Major Kira (Nana Visitor) To Play Jason’s Mum In ‘Friday The 13th’

I used to adore Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and more than that, I used to adore Nana Visitor, who played Major Kira Nerys on the show. So it’s a shame that I rarely see her in anything these days. Although, maybe without the rippled nose, she wouldn’t do it for me any more.

Regardless, I’m pleased to find out that she is set to play Jason Voorhees’ mum in the Friday The 13th remake currently in pre-production. AICN got the scoop after she revealed it at the Starfest convention in Denver for Trekkies.

She told a fan that she’d “already had a mold cast of her head and she said she won’t be in the film for very long before she’s decapitated.”

The role isn’t set to be as important this time around. In the original, a series of killings ends up being done by Pamela Voorhees, Jason’s mum, in revenge for his death. In the new film, Jason is the killer, as confirmed by the company behind the remake.

So it seems as though Visitor will only be on screen for a fleetingly short amount of time. Which means I’ll have to dig out my old VHS tapes of Deep Space Nine and relive my fantasies through those instead. Damn.
