Chris Pine, back in Kirk mode.
Today we celebrate the 46th anniversary of the premiere of “Stark Trek,” the TV series that spawned a million characters, series, and movies, and fired up a zillion imaginations. Conveniently, we also have a rumor from ComingSoon that the “Untitled Star Trek Sequel” now has a title: “Star Trek Into Darkness.” I sincerely hope there’s a colon in there, meaning “Star Trek: Into Darkness.”
The tip came when the domain names www.startrekintodarkness.com and www.startrekintodarknessmovie.com were registered through MarkMonitor, an anonymous domain registry service that also was used by Paramount Pictures for recent URLs like their official “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” site. So this is hardly a confirmation, but it’s got a little something to it.
Do I like the title? It’s incredibly bland, but at least it’s not awkward. That is not exactly a high recommendation but that’s all I can give you.
The movie that might be titled “Star Trek Into Darkness” will open May 17, 2013. J.J. Abrams directed a script by Alex Kurtzmann, Roberto Orci, and Damon Lindelof. The cast includes Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve and Peter Weller.
