Star Trek Movie Rumors: The Trouble With…

Damn it, Jim, I’m a doctor, not a vet…or whatever.
Yes, you guessed it. TrekMovie.com is reporting that JJ Abrams is including a tribble cameo in the upcoming Trek movie. Speculation has it that the little furry thing will appear in a cage or container in one scene.
Tribbles, as I’m sure you all know, are cute little fluffers that breed at a pace that would put rabbits to shame and harbor a strong dislike of Klingons. “The Trouble With Tribbles” episode of Star Trek is great in that it usually appeals even to people who otherwise don’t like Trek. It’s also a good way to introduce little kids to the show and get them hooked, heh heh heh. There’s something just particularly fun about that episode. I think I saw it when I was about four years old and just loved it.
TrekMovie.com was clever enough to contact David Gerrold, the writer of the original episode to see what he thinks about putting his creation into the next film. Here’s what he had to say:
What a great idea! I think it is terrific. I am thrilled I think it is a funny idea. As long as it fits within the story and the Star Trek universe I am all for it.
We’re happy you’re happy, Mr. Gerrold!
The site also goes on to note that this Saturday, December 29, marks the 40th anniversary of the original airing of the Tribble episode. Now that’s trivia that I’ll annoy people with all weekend.
