Stallone Not Helming ‘Expendables 2′

The Expendables

The Expendables 2 is a go, but it seems Sylvester Stallone won’t be directing like he did the original. Instead, according to The L.A. Times, Stallone is meeting with other directors keen to helm the second round of ‘give those aging action heroes a chance to prove they can still kick ass’ goodness.

Stallone has been talking about a sequel since even before the first one was released. I guess he knew he had a hit on his hands thanks to the cast he’d assembled, and The Expendables did indeed go on to do good business at the box office. Certainly enough to warrant a sequel.

Stallone has also handed off writing duties, with David Agosto and Ken Kaufman coming in to pen the sequel. No word yet on the plot (because that’s clearly why we watch these kinds of films) but it’s being heavily rumored that Bruce Willis is going to play the villain in The Expendables 2.

I have to assume Stallone is still going to be in the film, and I’d actually go as far as to say he’ll have a bigger role in The Expendables 2 than he did in the first. Would he really not direct or star in his own flick? The man’s ego is surely too large for that.
