A movie with Stifler, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Silent Bob, an ex-wrestler, and two pop singers can’t be bad right? Right?
If you were expecting a cookie cutter followup to “Donnie Darko” then you’re going to be disappointed. The tone of “Southland Tales” is a major departure from the dark and brooding atmosphere of Richard Kelly’s previous film.
The color palette reminds me a lot of “The Fifth Element”, not that that’s a bad thing. It’s just a bit jolting considering how subdued “Donnie Darko” was.
