Small, Wee Bits of X-Files Movie News

Will the new X-Files movie come with nifty toys like these? Chris Carter isn’t telling…anything. 

The Paley Festival’s panel on The X-Files was mostly about the show and included only a little bit about the movie. No surprise there, because they want to keep people buzzing about it and all that. But there were two little bits of info that I found interesting.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Chris Carter made it clear again that the movie will not rely on the show’s mythology, but will be more of a monster of the week movie. However, it will clear up some series loose ends, such as what the heck happened with Scully’s baby? A friend and I were discussing this and were hoping that they would find some way to try to pretend the baby never existed, but no such luck–though apparently they will deal with it in some way. Sigh.

And if you’re wondering why they’re being so mysterious about the title, well, that’s because there isn’t one–Fox wants one thing and Carter wants something else. So it isn’t coyness (okay, maybe a little) so much as clash of the marketer vs. auteur.

So that’s it for now. Let’s see if anything else gets out.
