Simon Pegg and Nick Frost To Be Thompson Twins In ‘Tintin’?

Thompson Twins Tintin

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are geniuses. Don’t argue. They not only both starred in Spaced, one of my favourite television sitcoms ever made, but then went on to kill zombies in Shaun Of The Dead and shoot bad guys in Hot Fuzz, two of the best British comedies of recent years. Then there’s the fact that Pegg is going to be Scotty in the new Star Trek movie. You don’t get cooler than that. Or maybe you do.

According to Dark Horizons, Pegg recently visited the set of the new Tintin, being directed by Steven Spielberg. He spoke to Spielberg on the motion-capture set when the pair got talking about film roles. It was at that point that Pegg recalls Spielberg saying:

“Hey, maybe you and Nick Frost could play the Thompson Twins.”

Pegg unfortunately leaves the story there so we don’t know if Spielberg had a glint in his eye or if the conversation just fizzled out. However, the tidbit has lead many on the Web to imagine Pegg and Frost as the comic relief for the trilogy of films, and most love the idea.

Pegg and Frost clearly don’t look very much alike, and seeing as the Thompson Twins are meant to be twins (the clue is in their name) this could be a bit of a problem. But, where did Pegg have this conversation? On a mo-cap set of course, which means the physical differences between the two essentially don’t mean a thing.

This probably won’t happen, but then, stranger things have occurred, such as Pegg being cast as the new Scotty. If it does happen then it virtually guarantees me a place in the front row when the first movie opens. I’m that big a fan of the pair, I’d turn up if they were filming an advert.
