‘Sex and The City 2’ In The Works

‘Sex and The City 2’ In The Works

Regular readers of Snarkerati (there must be at least a few of you), will know that I’m not a fan of Sex and The City. In fact, it’s fair to say I can’t stand it. I didn’t like the television series, and I avoided the movie like a plague when it came out a few months ago.

So you can imagine the look on my face this morning when I found out that a sequel is being made, with Sex and The City 2 already in the planning stages. Great, just what we need, another outing for the botox-laden old women who think they’re somehow sexy.

There was talk of a sequel as soon as the first film was released, and didn’t get panned by the critics. And now it’s been confirmed over at Hollywood Insider, although there is no script as of yet, and the lead actresses haven’t yet signed on the dotted line. They obviously will though, once the promised pay check reaches the level they want it to.

Michael Lombardo, president of HBO’s programming group told reporters:

“We’re really heartened by the fans’ enthusiasm. Absolutely, there is a lot of energy behind doing another SATC movie.

This was always going to happen, as the first film made too much money for the studio to just walk away and call it a day. Some fans aren’t too pleased with the idea of a sequel though, as reading comments on various message boards around the Web reveals.

Apparently, the first film ended with some nice closure, and an ability of both the actors and audience to walk away satisfied. So a sequel could well ruin that, and be flogging a dead horse. No, I don’t mean Sarah Jessica Parker, but now you come to mention it.
