Schwarzenegger unimpressed by ‘Terminator Salvation’

The fourth Terminator movie is currently being filmed in New Mexico, but the original Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger is nowhere to be seen. Arnie, now Governor of California, has however been shown early footage of the movie after the film-makers gave him a private screening.

Unfortunately, Schwarzenegger has told the LA Times that he isn’t too impressed with it so far. He said:

“They showed me some footage, but I don’t have a feel for the movie. I didn’t see enough. I wasn’t sure who the Terminator was. I don’t know if there is one or if he’s the star or the hero. These are the things that determine the success and how the strong the movie will be.”

Arnie is hoping the film, a new kick off for the franchise dealing with the aftermath of the robots taking over, and the fight to save humanity by John Connor, is a success. He said:

“I hope they do well, and I hope it is a huge hit. I do hope it creates a spectacle on the screen. That is what James Cameron created.”

I have huge doubts about this movie, partly because the third film was such a dud, and partly because a fourth film just seems a bit overkill. Trilogies do well because three films is about all a franchise can manage before the audience start getting bored of the same old storyline being retread over and over.

My only hope is that Christian Bale, playing the grown-up freedom fighter John Connor, can deliver the goods and prevent Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins from being an absolute steaming pile of crap. I’m sure Arnie will back me up.
