Schwarzenegger Back For ‘Conan’?

In a word, no, but that hasn’t stopped Avi Lerner, the man behind the Conan The Barbarian remake currently being put together expressing his desire to see Arnold Schwarzenegger appear in the movie. While Arnie wouldn’t have played Conan (have you seen his body lately?), he could have played a different character.
According to Digital Spy, Lerner asked Schwarzenegger, not Governor of California, to appear in the film for a one day cameo, and offered him $1 million to do so. The star of Terminator, Total Recall and the like turned him down but Lerner remains hopeful.
“[Schwarzenegger] said: ‘Wait two years for me. I’ll be coming back.’ But I can’t wait that long. I told him we could even shoot the scene in Sacramento,”
“He was smiling, but he didn’t say yes. Maybe he can’t take the money while he’s still governor. That’s OK, if he can’t take the money, I’d donate it to a charity or give it to a school that needs the money.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll approach him again. I don’t give up that easily.”
I doubt Arnie will change his mind, I mean does he ever? But it would have been cool to see the original Conan in the new remake, and add some much needed heavyweight talent to the project. There is also the publicity guaranteed by getting the Governor of California to star in a Hollywood movie.
But it seems Arnie is going to finish his stint in politics before making a comeback in the movies. His term as Governor ends in 2010 and then as the great man himself would no doubt utter: I’ll be back.
