Sarah Jessica Parker Confirms ‘Sex and The City’ Sequel

Any regular readers of Snarkerati will no doubt be aware of my hatred for Sex and The City. That goes for the television series, the movie, and even all of the actresses involved. Don’t ask me why I hate it so, just accept that I do. Unfortunately, it looks as though I’m going to have more reasons to avoid the cinema soon as a sequel is almost certainly on the way.
Back in July, HBO stated it was all for a Sex and The City 2 movie, although at the time there was no script in place and none of the lead actresses had signed on. Now, according to Digital Spy, Sarah Jessica Parker has confirmed that a new Sex and The City movie is on its way, and she’s looking forward to bringing it to the big screen once again. She said:
“It’s all about the story. If we can’t tell a story that’s really worthy of an audience, then we won’t do it. We’ve been in people’s good graces for a long time, and we take that very seriously. So that’s the biggest challenge – the story,”
Is there a story in Sex and The City? I was under the impression the whole thing was just about 4 middle-aged women who like to have sex and gossip about in their spare time. I must have been mistaken because it’s now all about the story apparently.
Obviously a sequel was always going to happen. A studio will not walk away from a license to print money like the Sex and The City franchise. And of course Sarah Jessica Parker was going to jump on board as looking like a horse has kind of limited her other work opportunities. She’s Carrie Bradshaw for life, or at least until they take her to the glue factory.
