‘S. Darko’ Cast Takes Shape – Production On ‘Donnie Darko’ Sequel Begins

‘S. Darko’ Cast Takes Shape

At the beginning of the month it came to light that a sequel to Donnie Darko was being made. Called S. Darko, it follows the story seven years after the original and follows Donnie’s sister Samantha.

I wrote a detailed post about the film then, but some more plot details have now emerged, as well as several cast members. Digital Spy is reporting that alongside Daviegh Chase who is reprising her role as Samantha is going to be Elizabeth Berkley, Briana Evigan, Ed Westwick and Justin Chatwin.

The story of the film will follow Samantha as she flees town with her best friend Corey seven years after the events of the original movie. They begin to encounter strange visions as they travel across America. Berkley will play a Jesus freak who is infatuated by her pastor as she tries to rid the world of sin.

My original post provoked quite a response, with most people agreeing with me that this had better do the original justice or a host of fans of the cult film will be more than a tad upset. It’s worrying that Richard Kelly, the man behind the original, which starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Patrick Swayze, isn’t involved in this film at all. However, new director Chris Fisher is promising “there are meteorites and rabbits”, so that’s aright then.

The film recently began production in Utah.
