Ryan Gosling Out of “Logan’s Run” Remake

Okay, Ryan, real glasses or Hollywood glasses?

It is with mixed emotions that I bring you news from EW that Ryan Gosling has dropped out of the remake of the 1970s sci-fi movie “Logan’s Run.” I am sad because any day where we lose Ryan Gosling from a movie is a sad day, no matter how shaky the idea. Yet I am happy because it gives me an excuse to put up a Ryan Gosling picture (see above).

The 1976 original film was about a futuristic society where people are not allowed to live past age thirty. Hmm…Gosling is thirty-one. Maybe he was worried that he might be executed when he arrived on set?

Nicolas Winding Refn, “Gosling’s “Drive” director was the latest name attached to the directing job, but if his boy Ryan is gone, maybe he’ll bail as well. The two are already set for a reunion in “Only God Forgives.”

Gosling’s “The Place Beyond the Pines” was well-received on the festival circuit, and is set for a March 2013 release. He also has the long-awaited “Gangster Squad” due out in January and is reportedly filming another “Untitled Terrence Malick Project,” though whether he makes it into the final cut or not is always a question.
