There is going to be a fourth Pirates of The Caribbean movie. Johnny Depp is going to be in it. And that’s about all we really know. But that hasn’t stopped rumors concerning plots, characters, and cameos flying about left, right, and center. The best of which surely has to be that British fop, comedian, and part-time actor Russell Brand will appear as Captain Jack Sparrow’s brother.
This is, of course, just a rumor, in the same way all the rest of the speculation is. But it’s a good one that doesn’t seem to be going away. Probably because Brand looks like he would make a perfect pirate, and could easily pass for Sparrow’s brother. He’s camp, has lots of scruffy hair, and is a hit with the ladies. What more do the filmmakers want?
Brand has now spoken about the prospect of appearing in Pirates of The Caribbean 4. It seems he’s keen but may be too busy to play second fiddle to Johnny Depp. According to Digital Spy, he said:
“There’s been some talk of doing a Pirates movie. But, I’ve got eight other things to do [including] Get Him To The Greek with Judd Apatow… So I don’t know if there’ll be time to be a pirate, I’ve got enough of that in my private life.”
Yes Russell, we know you’re busy, having sex with lots of women, writing books, doing sold-out stand-up shows, and of course, acting in movies, but this is Pirates of The Caribbean for God’s sake – only one of the biggest movie franchises around. And you’d probably get to kiss Keira Knightley, if you haven’t already. Surely that’s enough to make any man adjust his schedule.
Russell Brand would make an awesome brother to Depp in Caribbean 4 & would so look forward to seeing it happen.
