Russell Brand Says “C’est Moi” to “Pierre Pierre”

Do you think Russell Brand can steal the Mona Lisa? No, of course you don't. Thus the comedy.

Would you trade Jim Carrey for Russell Brand? According to Variety, that’s what Larry Charles may be doing in the case of “Pierre Pierre.” The comedy was announced earlier this year with plans for Carrey to star, but he’s since dropped out. Now it appears Brand is in line to take the role.

ComingSoon says “Pierre Pierre” is about “a self-indulgent Frenchman who plans on stealing the Mona Lisa to get enough money to move out of his parent’s house.” Yes, it’s easy to see both Carrey and Brand doing this. The script was written byEdwin Cannistraci and Frederick Seton and was originally set for Jason Reitman by 20th Century Fox. That didn’t work out so now Charles will handle it instead.

Brand was one of the few people who got decent reviews for this spring’s flop “Rock of Ages.” He’ll next be seen in Diablo Cody’s untitled directing debut with Julianne Hough and also did voice work for “Despicable Me 2.”
