Russell Brand has had a tumultuous few weeks recently after being accused of going beyond the realms of taste and decency when he rang Andrew Sachs from Fawlty Towers and bragged of having had sex with his granddaughter. He then left the BBC to avoid being fired.
But is he really going to care when he’s on the verge of global super stardom and a career in the movies? He’s already starred in Forgetting Sarah Marshall alongside Kristin Bell and Mila Kunis. And now he could be about to appear in Pirates Of The Caribbean 4.
The next Pirates film has been subject to many rumors surrounding the casting and plot details of late but Brand being involved is looking increasingly likely. Surely there’s no smoke without fire. Digital Spy claims Brand will be paid $10 million to play Captain Jack Sparrow’s brother.
“There couldn’t be a role more perfectly suited. There’s a lot of Jack Sparrow in his mannerisms and behavior. Depp’s accent isn’t a million miles away from Russell’s either. Russell joining the Sparrows alongside Johnny and Keith Richards as their dad will complete the ultimate on-screen pirate family.”
I think Brand would be brilliant in this role, as he already looks like he’s a family member of Captain Jack, with his long hair, camp mannerisms, and eye make-up. Until it’s actually confirmed though, I’ll take the speculation with a pinch of salt.
