Scarlett Johansson will play a singer in a movie.
If you were wondering if there was going to be a Black Widow movie, or a(nother) Incredible Hulk movie, how about this instead–a Black Widow AND Incredible Hulk movie!!
Nope, sorry, not quite–but we do have the actors who play those characters reuniting. Deadline reports that Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo will star in “Can a Song Save Your Life?” a film that I’m sure will be retitled (is this a prop bet I can find somewhere?). John Carney of “Once” fame wrote and will direct, but that doesn’t matter because Judd Apatow is producing so if the film is passable, he’ll get all the credit.
It’s a story about a girl (that would be Johansson) and her boyfriend who come to New York to become singers, but he dumps her to be a solo act. A “down on his luck” producer (Ruffalo) then discovers her singing in a club. I guess he’ll make her a star and they’ll fall in love.
Well, for years we’ve been hearing about how Scarlett Johansson insists she can sing so now we’ll be forced to find out if that’s true. No word on when this is happening.
We’ll see Ruffalo and Johansson in “The Avengers” this summer. Johansson also has “Under the Skin” coming out this year; Ruffalo is working on “Red Light Winter” and “Now You See Me.”
