Rosamund Pike will go drinking with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
Good news if you’re fans of Nick Frost, Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright and attractive women! ComingSoon(via The Daily Mail) reports that Rosamund Pike has joined the cast of “The World’ s End.” This film will complete the so-called “Three Flavours Cornetto” Trilogy from the Pegg/Frost/Wright trio (apparently a cornetto is a British ice cream thing that they manage to eat in each film, so each movie is a different flavor…).
Here’s the official synopsis:
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
Pegg will play King. Pike would likely play one of the friends who gets sucked into the return binge.
Pike began her career as a Bond girl during the Pierce Brosnan Tenure, but has appeared in a decent number of good films since, most notably “An Education,” “Pride and Prejudice,” and the recent “Barney’s Version” with Paul Giamatti. She was seen earlier this year in “Wrath of the Titans.” Now we’ll see how she holds up with the comedy pros.
“The World’s End” will begin shooting next month.
