Yes, I guess I probably should have put up a picture of Robert Rodriguez.
The LA Times says that Robert Rodriguez is negotiating with Fox to direct “Deadpool,” the latest Marvel character to get his own feature film. Ryan Reynolds made a cameo appearance as the character in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have written a “Deadpool” script.
Rodriguez had “Predators” out in theaters earlier this summer; his ”Machete” will be released in September. He’s currently working on “Spy Kids 4,” which I’m hoping is actually called “Spy Kids 4: The Last Battle” or something like that.
“Deadpool” is a character that has humor to go with the action, and Rodriguez has experience working with that mix. He can give you a movie that’s a hard R or a family friendly PG. He seems unlikely to demand a $300 million budget and hours of CGI work. He seems like he would be an adequate choice for a movie that I suspect isn’t going to get the super, super A-list treatment and budget from Fox.
