Robin Hood/Nottingham Mess Cleared Up

Russell Crowe applauds the oh so clever Nottingham plot twist!
Remember a few months ago when Russell Crowe hinted at the idea that he was playing both Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham in Ridley Scott’s Nottingham? That led to a lot of speculation about what exactly he meant (yeah, that week when Nottingham-speculation wiped the presidential campaign off the front pages of the newspapers was one of the craziest of the year). Well, now, we got some info about what it all means. Producer Brian Grazer told the MTV Movie Blog the story:
“The two role confusion is that what Robin Hood does is he sees Nottingham in battle very early in the movie and Nottingham dies. And Robin Hood takes over the identity of Nottingham. Thats how it plays out.”
Grazer referred to the movie as an “origin story” for the characters.
Okay. So, the actual dual role explanation isn’t far from the popular theory that the Sheriff of Nottingham would have a secret identity as Robin Hood; instead it will be Robin Hood who has a secret identity as the Sheriff of Nottingham. Get it? No matter which it is, I can’t ever get enough Robin Hood, be it Errol Flynn or that cute little Disney Fox. Get this movie made! …eh, I can wait…
