Rejected ‘Indy 4′ Script By Frank Darabont Leaked Online
Indiana Jones and The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull received some criticism when it came out due to an over the top script, and some very strange and obscure plot points. I actually liked these parts, maybe with the exception of the Nuking The Fridge moment, but many didn’t.
However, could it be that George Lucas wasn’t wholly to blame for the unbelievable moments, and in fact Frank Darabont, best known for his treatments of The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption, could be to blame.
The possibility of this being a possible explanation has come to light over the last few days as an early script for the fourth instalment of the Indiana Jones franchise was reportedly leaked online. The script was by Darabont, who according to Digital Spy spent a year on the project before being dropped at the request of George Lucas.
The script was titled Indiana Jones And The City Of The Gods, and appeared on a few websites at the end of last week before being removed wholesale. However, much of the plot was said to already be present, with Area 51, a nuclear explosion and a lost city all already there.
There were a couple of late additions made after Darabont left the project though, with Shia LaBeouf’s character getting written in, Indy’s father, played by Sean Connery being dropped completely, and less references to the original trilogy of movies.
