Reitman and Cody Team Up to Make Charlize Theron a “Young Adult”

None of the ghostwriters or young adult writers I know look remotely like this.

Deadline reports that Jason Reitman is planning to direct, “Young Adult,” a script written by Diablo Cody that will star Charlize Theron. Reitman and Cody previously teamed up on “Juno,” with Reitman getting a directing Oscar nomination and Cody getting a screenplay Oscar.

Here’s how Deadline describes “Young Adult:”

Charlize Theron plays a ghostwriter of young adult novels who realizes she has no identity with her pseudonym and plots to reclaim her identity. Her campaign involves going back and rekindling a relationship with her high school boyfriend–who’s freshly married, is a new father, and wants no part of her.

While she works on her plan, the ghostwriter reengages with high school acquaintances and their experiences in trying to carry out all those high school hopes and dreams that often get crushed by the realities of life.

Hmm, this sounds absolutely dreadful to me, but then again, I loathed “Juno” (except for J.K. Simmons). It’s just so irritating sounding. But perhaps if you liked “Juno,” this will seem very appealing.

They’re hoping to get financing in place so they can begin shooting on the extraordinarily specific date November 10th.
