Variety reports that Eddie Redmayne is in talks to join the cast of “Jupiter Rising,” the next directorial effort from the Wachowskis. Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis are already set to star.
The story is “set in a time where humans are at the bottom of the evolutionary ladder and follows a woman who has been targeted for assassination by the queen of the universe.” No word on who Redmayne would play.
Redmayne could not be hotter right now, with enormously positive buzz about his performance in “Les Miserables.” He’s on everyone’s list for roles right now, so this script must be incredible, or, after so many period movies, he’s anxious to do something set in the future. I mean that “starring in a Wachowski movie” doesn’t have quite the same cachet as it did a few years ago; the “Matrix” directors have had a string of flops over the last decade, including this year’s bomb, the ambitious but flawed “Cloud Atlas.”
Redmayne, on the other hand, is about to open in an anti-flop. You can see “Les Miz” starting on December 25th.
