Ellen Page will soon be wondering what to wear in Hell.
Following her success in Juno, girl of the moment Ellen Page is filling up her dance card quickly. First up will be a role in Sam Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell. ComingSoon says Page will be playing “a recipient of a supernatural curse.” (This is good because it would be a real comedown to be the recipient of a natural curse. Those are probably probably viruses or nasty colds, or maybe difficult to manage hair.)
As noted previously, Drag Me to Hell is based on a script Sam and Ivan Raimi wrote in 1992 after Army of Darkness. Shooting is expected to begin March 17th, with Page finishing up in time to move on to Whip It, the roller derby movie that will be Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut. (btw, I just read my original post on Raimi and Drag Me to Hell, and it is filled with references to Raimi directing The Hobbit films, which was a hot rumor at the time. Were we ever so young?)
Page is going to keep getting offers to play the spunky cute girl for a long time. I’m guessing her role in Drag Me to Hell has at least a bit of that in it. But if you’re typecast, taking your type into an unexpected genre like horror is a nice changeup. Good for you, Miss Page.
