Point Break Sequel On Way – Asia Based ‘Point Break: Indo’

The original Point Break is not only one of the most seminal movies of the early nineties, it’s also regarded as being responsible for possibly Keanu Reeves (I prefer The Matrix) and Patrick Swayze’s (Better in Donnie Darko) best performances. And now, there’s a sequel on the way.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Point Break: Indo will be an Asia-based movie directed by Jan De Bont, best known for Speed. Set in the present day, it’ll pick up the story 20 years after the original ended, when Swayze’s character disappeared.
The good news is that the writer of the original, W. Peter Iliff, is behind the sequel, meaning there will at least be a certain amount of continuity. No plot details or possible character reprises have yet been disclosed, but it is known that the film will shoot in Singapore and South-east Asia.
Obviously with Swayze being ill at the moment, there is doubt as to whether he’d sign up for this sequel, but I personally would love to see him reprise his role, or at least have some sort of involvement.
