Peacock’s Plumes: Page and Murphy

Ellen Page ponders life in Peacock, Nebraska.
Ellen Page is all the rage, with news of her taking on another role gracing the pages of Variety once again. This time it’s in a pic called Peacock, which also will star Cillian Murphy.
Here’s how Variety described it:
The title is derived from tiny Peacock, Neb., where Murphy’s character, a split personality, fools the town into believing his two alter egos are man and wife. Page plays a struggling young mother who holds the key to his past and sparks a battle between the personalities.
Split personalities? One in drag? Can we say Oscar? Or do we need to add another layer in there, like having one personality accused of a crime he/she didn’t commit, or perhaps having one suffer from a terminal illness? Well, I guess I don’t care as long as Cillian’s in it, even if half the time he’s playing the woman he married.
Busy Page (doesn’t that sound like the name of a racehorse?) now has booked three roles to keep her busy for a while. First up is the recently mentioned Drag Me to Hell. Next will be Peacock, followed by the supposed Drew Barrymore directorial debut, Whip It (I say “supposed” just because the start date for that one is still a while a way and anything could change. No offense meant, Drew.).

Ellen is certainly one busy little actress. Not only is she very talented, and beautiful, but she is also very inteligent and wise beyond her years. I have become one of her biggest fans, and I look forward to seeing her in more film roles. Especially this one which sounds very exciting. I enjoyed seeing Murphy play Scarecrow in “Batman Begins,” and so it will be interesting to see how complex he makes this role work for “Peacock.”
