Panettiere Makes No Kiss List

Hayden Panettiere, undoubtedly on many no kiss lists. 

No, Hayden Panettiere doesn’t have mononucleosis–actually, Variety is just reporting that she’s actually just signed onto the cast of Fox Atomic’s Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List.

In this sweeping, epic drama, Naomi and her gay best friend Ely make lists of people whom they declare off limit for the other to kiss. Havoc, tears, and vengeance ensue when Ely kisses Naomi’s boyfriend.

Naomi and Ely’s No Kiss List is based on the novel of the same name by Rachel Cohnn and David Levithan, published last year. The author team also wrote the novel Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, which has been made into a film starring Michael Cera and Kat Dennings that is due out later this year, I believe. Who wants to predict the next Cohn and Levithan title? I’m guessing Michelle and Jeff’s Grocery List.

Panettiere is currently at work on I Love You, Beth Cooper and then is up for Daydream Nation. She also is working on an album, with the first single “Wake Up Call” slated for the fall. I have a feeling that that will not make my Infinite Playlist.

I know, why pick on Hayden Panettiere? She seems no worse than any of the other pretty, sweetly dimwitted young starlets making their way through the Hollywood star machine. I have no reason to believe she’s a rotten person. I guess I have to admit to some feeling of annoyance at seeing her get cast in so many things when I just don’t think she’s very talented. But if I step back and look at it realistically, most of the parts she gets don’t really require her to be much more than Hayden Panettiere, and you know what? That’s smart–she’s doing what she can do and instead of being snarky about her, I guess I really should just be grateful that I have yet to look through Variety one morning and find a story about her being cast as a young Civil War widow who struggles through Reconstruction to become a powerful yet scheming businesswoman and the matriarch of a tumultuous, striving family.
