Owen Wilson To Play Marmaduke

Owen Wilson

Marmaduke is a comic strip created in 1954 by Brad Anderson and Phil Leeming. It follows the adventures of a Great Dane called Marmaduke, who creates chaos wherever he goes.

Fresh off the back of starring in Marley & Me alongside Jennifer Anniston and a dog Owen Wilson is set to star in the new live-action/CGI movie version of Marmaduke. It seems he isn’t content with merely starring alongside dogs he’s now going to be one.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Wilson is taking the lead role, with Judy Greer, Lee Pace and William H. Macy playing the human characters, and Fergie, Emma Stone, George Lopez, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Steve Coogan, Damon Wayans, and Marlon Wayans supplying the voices for the other characters.

Wilson seems inspired casting, and the rest of the cast looks interesting to say the least. Unfortunately, I can’t see Marmaduke faring any better than Alvin & The Chipmunks or Garfield, which both feature talking critters and were made combining live-action and CGI elements.
