James McAvoy wants us to baggins those Hobbit rumors.
James McAvoy’s out doing press for Wanted, his upcoming film with Angelina Jolie, but Collider’s rep in London, Niall Browne, picked up more important info than whether Angie dished dirt on Brad’s bad side (he has one, doesn’t he?. Addressing recent stories about McAvoy’s casting as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit movies, McAvoy said:
…it’s not true by the way, it’s all internet rumoring and nothing else I’m afraid. Sorry.
Collider’s not sold on this, thinking he still could (and they think should) be up for the role. It certainly is possible that he could still be in line for it and is just keeping it under wraps, or he could be telling the truth. Remember, signing up for the Hobbit isn’t signing up for a six week commitment; the LOTR actors were locked up for years as those three movies shot back to back. There are only two Hobbit movies, but it’s still probably a lot of time. McAvoy might envision a different type of career for himself, one that doesn’t include losing years to one role. So right now, I’d lean towards believing him…but never say never, I guess.
