The Avengers film was hinted at a long time before it was finally confirmed. The end of several of the big name movies had cameos or references to The Avengers, including Iron Man and The Hulk, the 2008 reboot starring Edward Norton in the titular role.
Despite this, it wasn’t actually clear whether The Hulk would appear in The Avengers or not. And if he did whether it would be Norton portraying him on screen or not. After all, the film-making process wasn’t exactly all sweetness and light.
But speaking to MTV recently, Norton spoke of the possibility of The Hulk appearing in The Avengers movie. He explained he was keen to see The Hulk playing the villain in the new movie as that would tie in with how the character was treated in the comics. He said:
“He kind of was, not in the books, but in the comics there was always a tension between the rest of the superhero community and he was always this problem… They treated him as this problem. I think that’s a fun way to go with it.”
This is great news because The Hulk, and consequently Bruce Banner, has to be in The Avengers movie. And I can think of no one better to play the character than Edward Norton as he did a great job in the stand-alone movie. Let’s hope this comes off.
