Robert Pattinson will not be "Catching Fire."
People who are fans of “The Hunger Games” trilogy are busy playing casting director with the next book, “Catching Fire.” One of the favorite parts everyone wants to cast is Finnick, mostly because he is a very handsome young man and many of the people involved in this Dream Casting Rumor Game are young females. So in an inevitable mash up of franchises, the rumor got started this week that Robert Pattinson was being considered for the role of Finnick.
This made so little sense on so many levels that it barely deserves a response, but luckily for us, Pattinson did offer one to USA Today while at Cannes:
“I woke up this morning and saw all these things about me being cast in The Hunger Games,” Pattinson tells USA TODAY. “I was kind of curious for a second. So I called my agent.”
The response?
“My agent was like, ‘No,’ ” Pattinson reports.
“(My agent) was like no one’s going to offer you that part,” Pattinson says, breaking into a laugh. “I was like, thanks for the reassurance.”
There’s long been word that no one from the “Twilight” franchise would be considered for any “Hunger Games” roles, but I guess some people (especially 12 year olds) tend to be very hopeful when it comes to their favorites. But even, if by some defiance of Hollywood logic, the lead member of the “Twilight” franchise could be offered a supporting role in “The Hunger Games” films, I can guarantee that Pattinson wouldn’t want to do it. You get the feeling that he’s really over the big franchise movie thing. Really, really over it.
Pattinson had “Cosmopolis” premiere at Cannes last week and “Bel Ami” coming out later this year. Then, finally, on November 16th, it all comes to an end with “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2.”
