New The Spirit Featurette Tells All (well, not really, but…)

Yahoo!Movies has a new featurette on Frank Miller’s adaptation of The Spirit. Go here to see the nice, shiny high-res verision.

The film opens on Christmas Day and stars Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Sarah Paulson, Eva Mendes, Dan Lauria, Paz Vega, Jaime King, Scarlett Johansson, Louis Lombardi and Stana Katic.

This little doc gives some background on Will Eisner and the characters he created in The Spirit. But if you want a really great account of Eisner’s role in the rise of the comics in the middle of the 20th century, read The Ten Cent Plague: The Great Comic Book Scare and How it Changed Ameria, by David Hajdu. It’s a lot of fun adn I can’t think why you wouldn’t like them.  

Based on this clip, the movie looks like it has a cool visual style (no surprise from Frank Miller), but I’m a little worried about some of the acting. Oh well, we’ll find out soon.
