I just hate it when the streets are not a refuge.
ComingSoon reports that Rebellion and 2000 AD are planning to make a new movie based on the comic book character Judge Dredd. DNA Films is also in on the deal. Jason Kingsley, 2000 AD CEO and Creative Director, had this to say:
“We can’t give away too many details at this point, but we’re looking forward to working with DNA Films to bring Judge Dredd back to the big screen.”
I’m sure some of you are saying, “What do they mean ‘new’ and ‘bring back’?” That’s because you’re either lucky enough not to know about or to have forgotten the 1995 version starring Sylvester Stallone, Diane Lane, Armand Assante, Rob Schneider, Joan Chen, and Max Von Sydow. I know, you’re looking at that and thinking, wow, how could that possibly miss with that mix of a cast?!! Yeah.
Judge Dredd is a British comic character who is a law enforcement officer in a violent future city (“In a world…”). He has the power to be judge, jury, and executioner. No, I don’t know offhand if Stallone did a British accent.
So, casting is the next discussion. We can only go up, folks. The obvious choice would be someone like Gerard Butler. Not so obvious? Ed Westwick. I’m just kidding, people. Really. I think.
