Neal Moritz Eyes Comic “Sleeping Beauty”

Hey, need more fairy tale movies that come from a different point of view or are labeled “a different “take on” the classic story? Well, it doesn’t matter what you want, you’re getting more of them. Today we have news from The Hollywood Reporter that producer Neal Moritz is planning a “comedic take” on “Sleeping Beauty.”

It will beĀ  “a modern-day retelling that finds the male protagonist accidently awakening Sleeping Beauty and finding that he can’t get rid of the lovestruck heroine.” Mike Gagerman and Andrew Waller are writing the script. Between this verson and “Maleficent,” it’s a bad time to be Sleeping Beauty. Come on, someone give the poor princess a break. She’s just trying to wake up and may be a little groggy.

Moritz has produced many hits, with “21 Jump Street” his most recent. That’s up for sequel-dom.
