‘National Treasure 3′ Heading South – Cage Definitely In

The first two National Treasure films have been the natural successors to the Indiana Jones movies, at least until Indy made his return earlier this year. But after thrilling us all (as much as the dully monotone Nicolas Cage can thrill anyone) with treasure hunting for two outings in a row, where can the series go next?
Nicolas Cage doesn’t actually know, but he can at least have a damn good guess. He recently spoke to MTV Movies about the third film in the series, where it is likely to head next, and the part he will play in any future releases.
“There’s been talk about doing it in the South, maybe in New Orleans,”
“It’s the kind of character you can play forever, it’s not age dependent. It’s a good franchise.”
Yawn. Oh sorry, has he finished? Okay, so the man could bore the pants off a yak, if indeed yaks wore any pants, but ignore the succinct mutterings and let’s just take a look at what he said.
To translate from Cage-speak (the language of the deathly dull), the series is highly likely to be heading to the southern states of the US for its third outing. And what’s more, Cage will definitely be a part of this film and likely the ten films that are likely to follow in its wake.
National Treasure = great, and I’m glad it’s carrying on. Nicolas Cage = Zzzzzz.
