Last week we heard that casting was underway for the role of Harry Osborn in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” with Brady Corbet, Dane DeHaan, and Alden Ehrenreich as the first names to surface. Apparently no one induced an “Ah hah! That’s him!” moment because today we hear from The Hollywood Reporter that there are four more candidates.
The new names are:
Douglas Booth (Noah)
Sam Claflin (Snow White and the Huntsman)
Boyd Holbrook (The Host)
Eddie Redmayne (My Week with Marilyn)
So last week word was that they had switched from a “charismatic, athletic” type for the role to a “dark, edgy” type, which explained the first group of names. Now I wouldn’t necessarily call this new group of names “athletic”–to me that says someone like Armie Hammer or a Hemsworth–but they’re all decidedly more leading men types than the first group, or really leading boys, as they’re all very boyish looking. Does this mean that they’ve switched the type again? Apparently or, more likely, they just don’t know what they want and are hoping they’ll know when the right guy walks in the door.
“The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ will be directed by Marc Webb. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone return from the first one, with Shailene Woodley and (very likely) Jamie Foxx added to the cast.
